CHADS 2 score estimates the annual risk of developing a stroke with atrial fibrillation. Anticoagulation with coumadin is recommended if the score is equal to or above 2. One point is given for CHF, hypertension, age greater than 75 and diabetes. Two points are given for prior stroke.
